Prof. José M. Espino carried out his Ph.D. studies at the Niels Bohr Institute (Denmark) and the University of Seville (Spain), and obtained the Ph.D. degree in Physics by this University in 1990. Since 1999 he is Associate Professor in the Department of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics of the University of Seville. His past and present research activities, usually in collaboration with European and American institutions, include: spectroscopy of excited nuclear states up to high spin; scattering of exotic, neutron rich nuclei; applications of detectors to tracking of accelerated charged particles; and development of detection systems for verification of complex radiotherapy treatments with photons. At present, he is the coordinator of the Master´s Degree in Medical Physics of the University of Seville.
